Mikulicz Symposium 2022
Mikulicz Symposium 2022
In the course of the refugee crisis caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war, there was an increased emergence of Ukrainian- and Russian-speaking refugees with war injuries in outpatient, preclinical and clinical care in East Brandenburg from February 2022. Gunshot and blast injuries tend to occur less frequently in day-to-day care here. War refugees with language barriers and unknown medical history are also a special challenge for emergency rescue and emergency rooms. Unknown previous illnesses, unfamiliar medication schedules and patients who are not yet familiar with the processes in the healthcare system of the new country posed previously unknown challenges and problems for those treating them in East Brandenburg and the neighboring Polish border region.
For this reason, the Mikulicz Symposium was launched as a German-Polish training and networking event. In recurring dates, current topics from emergency care in the border region were regularly addressed, always promoting the exchange of experiences. Subsequently, concepts such as the LIKAR map and the LIKAR app were also expanded and supplemented to include the Polish language (3-language map). The Mikulicz Symposium was organized by the Center for Training Logistics gUG, and directly and indirectly supported by the Foundation for Commitment and Volunteerism and the Spree-Neisse-Bober Euroregion.
